REVIEW OF GLOBAL STANDARDS AND TRENDS IN FORENSIC TESTINGS

In 2009, the authors conducted a preliminary study to provide a snapshot of current trends in forensic testing observed in North America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand. It aimed to spark off discussions within the asian community and identify the path forward for forensic testing in Asia.

This presentation is a follow-up from our previous study and will focus on topics such as:

  1. Quality Assurance: Quality issues and gaps in analysis.
  2. Standards and Guidelines recommended by forensic networks and the new initiatives that they are currently looking into.
  3. Technology Trends: New and emerging techniques used in forensic testings.
  4. Research, Education and Training: Tertiary institutes, private laboratories and vendors’ roles as government institutions’ strategic partners in forensic research, education and training.
