Harness Forensics
Forensic scientists can help you understand the science behind an expert report and maximise the value of the evidence you present in court, arbitration or mediation. TFEG experts are well-recognised by local investigators, public prosecutors, lawyers, the Courts and our overseas counterparts. We have worked on thousands of cases and numerous high-profile ones which have gained positive feedback from the Singapore Courts, Singapore International Arbitration Centre and key stakeholders.
Make Forensics Work for You
When engaging TFEG experts for your case, you can opt for either one or both approaches: forensic consultancy or forensic report.
Forensic Consultancy
In the early stages: A forensic consultancy is useful in the early stages of a case when you are exploring the scope and extent of forensic work. It assists in narrowing down the potential issues for the case. Preliminary indications provided by the forensic expert will help the client make better informed decisions. Forensic consultancy can also be adopted for cases where a formal expert report is not required for court purposes.
During case preparation: Our forensic experts will assist you in navigating through the maze of scientific terminology and data to understand the methodology, significance and limitations of the forensic findings, conclusions and opinions in the TFEG report, as well as the opposing expert’s report.
During cross-examination: Scientific issues often involve observations and reasoning embedded in complex processes. It may be difficult to elicit from an adverse expert, responses that reveal his oversights and latent errors. We can help you grasp the significance and implications of the forensic findings in the opposing expert’s report, assist in formulating lines of questioning for cross-examination and provide insights for your submissions.
Forensic Report
Formal reports are written in anticipation that they will be tendered and admitted in court as evidence. Hence, forensic reports must be comprehensive, objective, robust, transparent and balanced. TFEG experts strive to communicate the forensic findings in concise, clear and unambiguous language. Click here to view the disciplines which TFEG’s experts can assist you in.
There are two types of forensic reports that can be prepared:
Independent Forensic Report: Our experts are often engaged to provide an independent analysis of the items submitted to the TFEG laboratory. We also conduct on-site inspections for items that are in the custody of the opposing party, and scene visits for investigations and reconstructions of incidents and crime scenes
Forensic Review Report: In a Forensic Review Report, the expert identifies areas of agreement and disagreement, strengths, shortcomings and limitations in the opposing expert’s report. Insofar as the report details allow, we will ascertain whether relevant evidence was adequately considered or overlooked, adequate tests were conducted and whether the conclusions and opinions were overstated or understated. The Independent Forensic Report and the Review Report prepared by your expert will assist you in cross-examining the opposing expert.
Each case is unique and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Contact TFEG and have our expertise work for you.
